Regular sessions at YOCs are comprise the following three segments:
Book review is a segment where a guest or a member can review a book of their choice for a time period of eight minutes. The book of the reviewer's choice can be of any language, any genre, or any subject but the review itself must be in English. After the review, a member of the reviewer's choice evaluates the review on its merits and short-comings and shares a gist of the same with the reviewer and others attending the session.
Minor is a fifteen minute speech given by a member on a topic of their choice. The speech is followed by a question and answer segment where the audience in session can ask the speaker questions about the content of the minor. Following the question and answer segment, the speaker is evaluated on the merits and short-comings in the minor by a member of the speaker's choice.
Major is a segment in which everyone attending the session gets to speak on a given topic for a stipulated period of time. A major can be a debate, an elocution, a group discussion, or any other form of public speaking format. After all speeches, the majorist - the member whose turn it is to host the major - evaluates all speeches and chooses one speaker as the best among the speakers in the session. Evaluations in a major are usually based on these three rubrics: Language, Matter, and Style (LMS).
